N-SIGHT 2008 WAS AMAZING

Tricia and I really enjoyed our recent workshop. Of course we had a challenge since a tornado hit our studio three weeks ago but thanks to Tolbert Yilmaz for letting us use his dance studio as a base we pulled off one incredible workshop. We had nine photographers attend the workshop which was just the size we wanted so it could really be hands on. Tricia did a great job helping to get this workshop off and going. Everyone really benefited from her coming down from Chicago and showing how she captures her striking portrait and wedding images.
The weather was not great which gave us the opportunity to give our students the experience to shoot under cloudy skies, during rain, with harsh sunlight, with off camera lighting, using reflectors, under tungsten lighting, with night lighting, shooting with the lights for a car and even shooting during a hail storm. I think everything was covered in a single day of shooting.
Instead of me telling you about the workshop just look at what some of the photographers that attended the workshop had to say. Also make sure you check out Tricia's blog at http://www.tricialeephotography.com/. I also would like to thank Cat for helping so much and taking pictures of everyone shooting.
I had am amazing weekend helping with Tricia Lee Whitmer and Mike Moreland's N-Sight Workshop. I was the all-purpose helper and documented the workshop for them. We had 'amazing' weather in Atlanta on Saturday and were able to shoot in Cloudy/Overcast Skies, Puddles, Wind, Window Light, Indoors, Rain, Hail Storms, Sunshine, Twilight, Dark and in the Headlights. Talk about 'going with the flow'!!!Again, thank you so much Tricia & Mike for the opportunity, I learned quite a bit and hope you like the images I took for you. I look forward to hanging out with you again soon.

In a word, the workshop was OUTSTANDING! You and Tricia really went the extra mile to insure the N-Sight Workshop was informative, creative and fun! I’ve attended a lot of photography workshops, but none this well thought out and none with as much hands on shooting and professional instruction. The learning environment was perfect for what I needed and came away with a renewed sense of creativity as well as an “N-Sightful” new way to see my subjects. I truly feel that my wedding work will be greatly enhanced by the techniques and useful ideas that I picked up. Great job Mike and Tricia for opening my mind and helping me be a better photographer. Oh, by the way, the rain, wind and hail were a nice touch! Put me on your list for all future workshops

I’m glad I had the opportunity to tap into the mind of two great photographers. I’ve admired Mike’s work for years and constantly stayed on his blog to see what crazy shooting style/location he came up with next and try to figure out how the shot was taken.. Sometimes you think people with that type of talent aren’t reachable, but Mike and Tricia were more than willing to share their creative secrets and provide the constructive criticism we all need as photographers to spring us to the next level and how to think outside the box in photography.. That was the magic word “Outside the box”.. Those words stuck in my mind the entire day and kept me constantly thinking of how I could capture the shots “outside the box”.. Tricia was great with telling us how to pose up a shot and what to look for and if we weren’t getting the right lighting, she quickly gave a f-stop or shutter speed based on our current camera setting and the shot came out perfect.. Her smiling personality kept the models at ease as we approached them paparazzi style in the beginning.. That night when I looked at what I shot, I was amazed at what I was able to accomplish with their guidance as I fought to narrow my images down to 10 for Sunday’s presentation. (I slipped in 5 extra) We were able to shoot in almost every weather condition and still saw great results.. It’s also an opportunity to create an alliance with other photographers who have the same hunger for knowledge.. I’m looking forward to the next workshop they have! Mike and Tricia.. Thanx for feeding my hungry mind this weekend and will definitely approach photography in a different way..

Thanks so much for a great day shooting yesterday. The models were fantastic and the locations were diverse, interesting and beautiful. You both really opened my eyes on how to be more creative and find better shooting locations. I learned a ton about your innovative approach to lighting a scene with the tungsten lights (really cool). The way you posed the models, the way you interacted and directed them and the just the way you were able to put them at ease and the way they all responded was amazing to watch. I came home last night so pumped!!! I feel like I have just met a couple of new friends; you made me feel that welcome and I really appreciated that very much. Even though I didn’t get a chance to participate today, I know the workshop was money well spent. Great job on putting this together;
